Usually the genus Telmatactis could be easily distinguished by characteristic appearance and especially by the presence of the spherules on the ends of the tentacles (but not every anemone which has spheres on the tentacles belongs to Telmatactis, several other genera have similar structures and many corralimorphs and stony corals have them too.) The species identification is, however, not always possible - the genus Telmatactis in its current state represents a mess of many poorly described species and requires a revision.
