Halcurias pilatus looks like small ordinary sea anemone, but its inner structure differ considerably from most anemones and this species belongs to a separate suborder Endocoelantheae. This suborder comprises very few species all of which are rarely recorded and most are deepwater. As far as we know no photos of identified living specimens of this suborder have been published before.
