Unlike many other nonattached burrowing anemones Peachia cylindrica is rather robust species and may reach 30 cm long and 2.5cm diameter. Typically, only a disc with 12 characteristically coloured tentacles is visible on surface, while the whole body is buried deeply into the substratum. For a long time this species was known as Peachia hastata Gosse, 1855, but in 1981 Manuel discovered that Actinia cylindrica Reid, 1848 is identical with this species, and since Reid’s name is older the species must be called Peachia cylindrica.
