Large recently described deep-water species, the diameter of the tentacular crown is about 20–25 cm, the column is about 12 cm in diameter and of about the same height. Numerous (up to 200 or more) short conical tentacles are on the peryphery of the oral disc.
Currently this species is known only from NW Pacific
Previously the genus Sicyonis was assigned to the family Actinostolidae, but now we place it in Sicyonidae, a family established by Hertwig in 1882.
