Edwardsianthus pudicus is type species of genus Edwardsianthus. Originally it was described from Red Sea by Carl Benjamin Klunzinger in his book "Die Korallthiere des rothen Meeres" published in in 1877. His very old description is quite precise and matches very well the photographs shown here. He described color of the body as is white to grey-blue when the cuticle is scraped off. Tentacles described as grey, grey-green or brown, with light green spots on the inside and bright vermilion dots, lines or spots on them. Disc green, edge of mouth brown.
Two specimens from Red Sea shown here (photographs 1 and 2) and a specimen from Oman (third photograph) have these very characteristic bright red dots and lines on the tentacles and without any doubt belong to the species described by Klunzinger, Edwardsianthus pudicus.
